For me, this past week has been an experience! Some may think I’m weird for saying that since it was a painful week emotionally and I wouldn’t change anything. I learned so much about myself, the person I want to be and some good lessons of life. This is what I learned:
1) It really is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all.
If we base all our decisions on whether we are going to get hurt, we will never have a relationship. We will never know what it feels like to be loved or know how to truly love someone. The fear of loss and getting hurt would always stand in the way. I was hurt by our decision this last week but I don’t regret anything that happened and neither does he. Out of the pain, came a life long friendship.
2) Good friends may be a rarity , but they exist!
In this person, I have found someone who is a true friend. A person who will come pick you up in the middle of the night with no questions asked. It wouldn’t matter where you are because they would be there for you. They don’t stop and think what am I getting out of this? Further, these are the kinds of people who you can trust with your deepest thoughts and opinions and not feel judged. This person will listen as you tell them things you aren’t able to tell anyone else. Hold on to such people when you find them.
3) Our duty to serve God and fulfill his will is more important than doing what we want.
Sometimes God has a plan for us and we aren’t sure as to what He wants us to do. But isn’t it more like, God has a plan for us and we aren’t sure if His plan is what we want? Doing the right thing, the thing that God wants us to do, isn’t easy. It never is! But that’s where our faith comes in. We have to take the first step forward in fulfilling God’s will and would you believe that he will take care of the rest? So what I’m saying is that sometimes we have to put aside our own desires and do what God wants us to do. Because ultimately, it’s not about us. It’s about God! It’s about his love!
So as you carry out your life, keep in mind that through the pain and the hurt, God can create something good. Thus, love endlessly. Give it freely for everyone wants to feel loved. Everyone needs that friend. With this in mind, don’t be afraid to take that first step of faith. You just might be surprised with what God can do for you and for others when you step out in faith.
Pain is definite! Hurt is finite! But LOVE is infinite! Love crosses all boundaries. It has no fear! SO LOVE ENDLESSLY!
