Are you struggling financially? Do you have a family to care for? Are you dealing with the death of a loved one?
Sometimes we continue to carry these burdens. We don’t talk about it or if we do we don’t seem to find relief from these burdens. So they keeping weighing us down, putting more and more pressure on our shoulders. And then when we can’t handle it anymore, we get angry or depressed. Or maybe we just give up entirely. But it shouldn’t have to end this way.
First, we need to admit that we can’t handle this on our own. We need help! God’s help! Trust that He is in control and thus will help us get through the rough spots.
Once we realize this, we can come to God with anything. We can lay our burdens down at His feet. For Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-28).
By giving all our burdens to God, we can finally feel relief. The pressure isn’t on us anymore. God doesn’t expect you to change the world or even a small part of it for that matter. He just wants you to live your life for Him, to serve Him. He wants you to love Him!
In addition, God tells us to “carry each other’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Talk to your friends and family. Tell them what’s been troubling you. They may be able to loan you a bit of money or give you some advice. They will support you as well and see you through it all.
And when the time comes and someone brings their burdens to you, help them! Don’t do it because they helped you or because you owe them a favor. Do it out of kindness and love. Because that is what God would want you to do.
But remember always bring your burdens to God! He is the solution! Let Him set you free!
