Everyone has secrets. Things from the past that are better left in the past. Things we don’t want anyone to know. Some secrets are best to remain as secrets.
Then there are those secrets that if kept could hurt someone, damage a relationship. They could wound you and haunt you the longer you keep them. It shows that you don’t trust people with your secret and thereby, don’t trust that person.
So what message do we send to God, when we keep the biggest, most important thing, a secret? When we keep our faith a secret, does that not show God that we don’t trust Him? That He can’t protect us when someone questions our faith or persecutes us for it? Are we not telling God, that He’s not important enough by keeping this secret?
Proverbs 27:5 says, “Better is open rebuke than hidden love.”
Is it not better to proclaim our faith and take whatever persecution that comes our way? God will protect us! If God is for us, who can be against us, right?
Furthermore, don’t be ashamed of what you believe. It’s who you are. Therefore, let people know you believe! Trust God to help you stand through the persecution. He will always be by your side.
